A Dental Implant Transformation: Hear Hatti's Story

A Dental Implant Transformation:

Hear Hatti's Story

When Hatti needed some teeth removed, Dr. Sasan Khodabakhsh recommended she explore dental implants rather than traditional restorations. Remembering her own mother's struggles with removable false teeth, Hatti wanted to take a different route, and she says she's so happy with the choice she's made. Her new implant-supported restorations look great, feel great, and give her the confidence to show off her beautiful smile once again.

Meet Dr. Sasan Khodabakhsh

Dr. Khodabakhsh was raised in Dallas, TX, and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2005. Since then, he has completed over 1,000 hours of continuing education through mini-residencies under some of the most respected clinicians in North America, with a significant focus on implant surgery and full-arch rehabilitation.

As the founder of Summit Point Dental Implant Center, he built his McKinney practice around a simple idea: patients deserve a dentist who handles their care personally, explains their options honestly, and stays with them long after their procedure is complete. That philosophy shows up in every consultation, every treatment plan, and every follow-up visit.

Dr. Khodabakhsh is proud to be affiliated with:

  • The American Dental Association (ADA)
  • The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD)
  • The American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID)
  • The International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI)

Dental Implant Cost, Financing, and Warranties

The cost of dental implants varies based on the type of restoration you need, the number of implants placed, your choice of materials, and whether any preparatory procedures like bone grafting are required. Rather than listing a one-size-fits-all price, Dr. Khodabakhsh provides a detailed, transparent estimate during your free consultation so you know exactly what your treatment involves and what it will cost before committing to anything.

Insurance & Financing

While most dental insurance plans do not cover the implant post itself, your crown, bridge, or denture may be partially covered. Our team will help you understand your benefits and maximize any eligible reimbursement.

For the portion not covered by insurance, Summit Point Dental Implant Center offers flexible third-party financing through Proceed Finance®, Alphaeon® Credit, and LendingPoint®. These options allow you to pay in manageable installments so you can move forward with treatment on a timeline that works for your budget.

Protecting Your Investment

We also stand behind the quality of our work. Summit Point Dental warranties both our implant products and our services, which is uncommon in the industry. We use high-end Neodent® implant posts and offer durable zirconia and porcelain restorations because we believe your investment should last. If you run into an issue down the road, Dr. Khodabakhsh will still be here to take care of it.

Why Choose Implants Over Traditional Alternatives?

Whether you need a single implant or a full-arch restoration, dental implants offer advantages that traditional bridges and removable dentures cannot match.

Implants are the only tooth replacement option that stimulates the jawbone, which prevents the bone loss and facial changes that commonly follow tooth extraction. They also function like natural teeth, so you can eat, speak, and smile without worrying about slipping, clicking, or adhesive. Unlike a traditional bridge, implants do not require altering healthy adjacent teeth for support.

Implants are also built for the long term. The titanium posts can last a lifetime with proper care, and the restorations we place on top are crafted from high-end materials like zirconia and porcelain for durability and a natural appearance. When you factor in the cost of repeatedly replacing or repairing removable dentures over the years, implants often prove to be the more cost-effective choice.

Your Dental Implant Treatment Options

Implant-supported restorations consist of three pieces: an implant post that is surgically anchored into the jaw, an abutment on top of the post, and a crown, bridge, or denture.

Implant crown

Implant-Supported Crowns

For individuals missing one tooth, implant-supported crowns are an excellent solution. A single implant is placed into the jaw to support a custom dental crown. The artificial tooth is indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Dental bridge

Implant-Supported Bridges

For individuals missing multiple teeth, an implant-supported bridge is ideal. Two or more implants are placed in the jawbone for support. Many patients at our McKinney practice benefit from the strength and appearance of this type of fixed appliance.

Implant denture

Implant-Supported Dentures

For individuals who are missing most or all of their natural teeth, implant-supported dentures are recommended. Dr. Khodabakhsh offers both All-on-4 and Hybridge® full-arch restorations that allow patients to bite, chew, and smile confidently again.

All-on-4 Full-Arch Replacement with Just Four Implants

All-on-4® is a dental implant system designed for patients who are missing most or all of their teeth. Using just four strategically placed implants, All-on-4 dental implants in McKinney, TX, can support a full upper denture or lower denture with the stability of natural tooth roots. Benefits over traditional implant dentures include:

Fewer Implants Needed

Only four implants are needed to support a full denture, even in patients who lack sufficient jawbone density for traditional dental implant procedures. This avoids the need for bone grafting and multiple surgeries.

Same-Day Restorations

All-on-4 achieves a stable foundation faster than traditional implants thanks to the position of the four implants. In many cases, a temporary denture can be placed on the same day as implant surgery.

Greater Affordability

Placing fewer implants translates into savings for the patient. Since only four implants are used and grafting is not necessary, All-on-4 is generally less expensive than traditional dental implant procedures.

All-on-X When More Than Four Implants Are Needed

Not every full-arch case calls for exactly four implants. All-on-X uses five or six implants per arch when a patient's jaw size, bite force, or bone density calls for extra stability. The additional points of contact distribute chewing forces more evenly, helping protect the restoration and surrounding bone over time. Dr. Khodabakhsh uses 3D cone beam imaging and digital scanning to determine the ideal number and placement for every case.

Candidates for Dental Implants

During your free consultation, you and Dr. Khodabakhsh will discuss these candidacy factors for dental implants.

Sufficient Jawbone Density

Your jawbone must be strong enough to support a dental implant. Since tooth loss causes bone loss and gum recession, tissue grafting may be required before we can place your implants.

Good General Health

Dental implants are recommended for people who are healthy enough to undergo surgery. Patients should be in good general health and committed to proper aftercare and regular checkups with their dentist.

Stop Tobacco Products

Tobacco products are bad for your teeth and overall health. Tobacco can also affect the body's ability to heal, which can increase your risk of implant failure. Our dentistry practice recommends quitting all tobacco products several months before implant placement.

Good Oral Health

If you suffer from an oral health issue such as tooth decay or gum disease, you may require preparatory care, like teeth cleaning or periodontal treatment, before your dental implants can be placed. This ensures a healthy foundation for your dental implants.

If it’s difficult or painful to chew after tooth damage like it was for this patient, dental implants may be a better option for you. With your permanent replacement teeth secured in place, you’ll have the confidence to eat whatever you want and smile whenever you want. We’re here to walk you through every step of the process, so take the first step and book your consultation today.

I would highly recommend Dr. K and his staff at Summit Point Dental. It is a rare occurrence when you can say that all the staff members at a particular business are friendly but with Summit Point Dental, all the employees were extremely friendly, welcoming and assuring. They did an excellent job in communicating the process and expectations. It is evident that the office functions with great leadership under Dr. K because there was such a sense of unity. I have never been a fan of going to the dentist because of past experiences but Dr. K and his staff took great care of me with such patience. Walking into their office does not feel like just another scheduled appointment but it feels as though you are visiting friends. I am completely satisfied my implants and could not have asked for a better experience.

Your Dental Implant Procedure A Look at the Treatment Process

Undergoing dental implant surgery and receiving a permanent bridge, denture, or dental crowns in McKinney, TX, can take a few months to a year. Below is a general overview of our specialized timeline for receiving dental implants.

We offer various sedation options to keep you comfortable during treatment.
We offer various sedation options to keep you comfortable during treatment.

Initial Consultation

During your free consultation at our McKinney dentistry office, Dr. Khodabakhsh will assess your candidacy for dental implants. You can ask questions about the treatment process, pricing, and dental financing options during this initial office visit.

First Oral Surgery

We will first administer local anesthesia and provide sedation if requested. During the first oral surgery, incisions are made in the gums so that the titanium implant post can be anchored into the jaw. The abutment that tops the implant post will be placed during a second surgery performed months later.

Healing and Osseointegration

After the first surgery, patients will spend the next four to six months healing. During this time, osseointegration occurs. The term refers to the fusion of the titanium implant with your jaw so that it essentially functions like an artificial tooth root.

Second Oral Surgery

Once osseointegration is completed, a second surgery is performed to place the abutment onto the dental implant. Healing from this second oral surgery only takes a few weeks to complete. Patients are in the home stretch at this point.

Placing the Dental Implant Restoration

The final part of the process is placing the custom dental implant restoration, which is crafted by skilled technicians at an offsite lab. The dental crown, bridge, or denture fits securely onto the abutment and is virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Are Dental Implants Always Successful?

Unfortunately, not all dental implants are successful. Dental implant failure happens to patients with metabolic disorders, those who smoke, those who don't have sufficient jawbone density, and those who have suffered a surgical error. Learn more about implant failure and how we prevent it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

Are dental implants covered by insurance?

While your crown, bridge, or denture might be partially covered by insurance, implants are usually not. During your visit to our McKinney office, we can discuss your unique needs and provide a price estimate. We can also discuss financing options that can make your dental implants more affordable.

How long will a dental implant last?

Dental implants are made of durable titanium. With proper care, your implants can last a lifetime. However, it is important to remember that your restoration will wear over time and will eventually need to be replaced, but not for many years.

How do I maintain my dental implants?

Maintaining your implants and custom restorations is as simple as brushing and flossing properly and seeing your dentist for regular exams and cleanings.
