All-on-X Allows Us to Treat Even More Patients
The All-on-4 system works exceptionally well for most full-arch cases, but some McKinney patients benefit from additional implants for optimal support. Dr. Khodabakhsh also offers All-on-X, a flexible approach that uses five or six implants per arch when a patient's anatomy or bite calls for it.
Why would you need more than four? Patients with a larger jaw, a stronger bite, or specific areas of bone loss may achieve better long-term stability with additional implants. The extra points of contact distribute chewing forces more evenly, which can help protect the restoration and the surrounding bone over time.
Dr. Khodabakhsh evaluates every case using 3D cone beam imaging and the iTero™ digital scanner to determine the ideal number and placement of implants. Whether your treatment calls for four implants or six, you receive the same benefits: a fixed, full-arch restoration placed in a single visit.
Alex's Story: "I wish I would have done it sooner."
“I wish I would have done it sooner.”
Alex tells how the poor quality of his teeth kept him from laughing, smiling, and even telling jokes before he visited us. We gave him a remarkable "teeth in a day" transformation using All-on-4 dental implants. He says he wishes he had visited our McKinney team even sooner.
What to Expect During the All-on-4 Procedure
Knowing what happens on the day of your All-on-4 procedure can ease a lot of the anxiety you may feel beforehand.
When you arrive, our team will get you settled and prepared for sedation. A medical anesthesiologist administers IV sedation on-site so you can sleep comfortably through the procedure. Dr. Khodabakhsh then extracts any remaining compromised teeth, places your implants at precise angles guided by your 3D imaging plan, and attaches a temporary full-arch restoration before you leave. Most patients walk out the same day with a fully functional set of teeth.
Over the following months, your implants integrate with your jawbone through a natural healing process called osseointegration. During this time, you will return for periodic checkups so Dr. Khodabakhsh can monitor your progress. Once healing is complete, your temporary restoration is replaced with your permanent zirconia or acrylic prosthesis, custom-designed to look and feel like natural teeth.
